Written by Natalie Noor-Drugan
German engineering company thyssenkrupp Uhde has won a front-end engineering design (FEED) study from US nitrogen producer CF Industries. The study covers a proposed new urea liquor upgrade plant at CF’s Courtright complex in Ontario, Canada. The project could add more than 400,000 st/y (363,000 t/y) of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) capacity.
thyssenkrupp Uhde announced the award on 29 October. The FEED was awarded by an affiliate of CF Industries Holdings. CF first disclosed the agreement in its second-quarter results on 5 August, and said it expects to make a final investment decision (FID) in 2027.
