Técnicas Reunidas wins Dangote reformer project

Spanish engineering company Técnicas Reunidas will supply two hydrogen reformers for Nigerian conglomerate Dangote Group’s new ammonia and urea complex in Ethiopia. The reformers will have a combined capacity of more than 200,000 normal cubic metres per hour (Nm³/h) of hydrogen. Danish technology company Topsoe is the licensor.

The Gode complex, in Ethiopia’s Somali region, will have capacity of 3 Mt/y of urea. It will use Ethiopia’s natural gas reserves. The plant aims to cut the country’s fertilizer imports and foreign exchange spending, and to supply neighbouring markets.
