    Replenish starts US fertilizer production

    Written by Natalie Noor-Drugan

Canadian fertilizer maker Replenish Nutrients has started production at its first US plant, in Crookston, Minnesota. The Alberta-based company blends finely ground potash, rock phosphate and elemental sulphur with compost, without using chemicals. It forms the mix into granules or pellets. Its patented SuperKS pellet fertilizer is designed to rebuild plant-available sulphur and potassium levels in the soil.

Farmers Union, a US Midwest agricultural group, owns and runs the Crookston plant. Replenish has licensed Farmers Union Enterprises to make and sell SuperKS across Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Replenish supplies the raw materials and technical support and handles final sales to distributors. It expects to earn about $40–60/t in licence revenue.
