The 34th IFA Annual Conference in Monaco is always a highlight of the fertilizer calendar, and this year feels especially significant. If you are here at the event, please come and say hello at the CRU stand in the expo. You can pick up a free print copy of our special Fertilizer International IFA edition and talk to CRU colleagues about subscribing to the magazine or taking a free trial to explore our online content and newsletters.

For this conference issue, we’ve put leadership at the centre of the story. Our cover interview with CASALE CEO Federico Zardi is a great introduction to one of the industry’s foremost technology and engineering companies, and to what practical leadership on decarbonisation looks like. Federico talks candidly about CASALE as “a company of minds”, the Villeta green fertilizer project in Paraguay, and his ambition for CASALE to help guide the fertilizer and energy industries through the transition ahead.

Leadership also runs through our conversation with Mike at Anglo American Crop Nutrients, reflecting on a year of positives for the UK polyhalite business. And at industry level, IFA CEO Alzbeta Klein sets the scene for this week’s discussions in her editorial “The crisis behind the crisis: why fertilizer belongs at the heart of the food and energy conversation”, arguing that energy, food and fertilizer are three faces of the same system and that fertilizer belongs alongside energy in every security and policy debate.

If you are not in Monaco this week, you can still read all of these pieces. We’ve ungated the conference articles online, and you can download the IFA edition via the Fertilizer International magazine downloads page to see the full set of stories we’ve brought to the event. If you are not yet a subscriber, you can use that route to explore the issue and then take a free trial to access our wider library of Fertilizer International content.

I hope you enjoy the Monaco edition and look forward to hearing your thoughts – whether that’s at the stand, in your inbox, or via our online platforms.
