Worley to provide engineering services for cobalt refinery project

Worley says that it has been awarded an engineering services contract by United States Strategic Metals to support the development of a multi-metallic processing hub in Missouri, United States. This will include the development of a cobalt refinery and a black mass recycling process line. Under the contract, Worley will provide engineering services and procurement support within an integrated project management team to oversee the construction of the project. The work will be led from Worley’s Louisiana operations, with support from teams in Phoenix, United States, the United Kingdom, and the Global Integrated Delivery (GID) team.

United States Strategic Metals operates a mining and hydrometallurgical processing facility at the historic Madison Mine site near Fredericktown, Missouri. The plant uses sulphuric acid-based hydrometallurgical processing and proprietary technology to extract and recycle battery-grade cobalt, nickel, copper, and lithium.
