China’s Hubei Yihua Fluorochemical, a subsidiary of Hubei Yihua, has successfully completed the first phase of a 60,000 tons/year anhydrous hydrogen fluoride project, the company said. The HF is recovered from the company’s existing phosphate chemicals production. Anhydrous hydrogen fluoride is used in refining, electronics and renewable energy technology.

The company has invested RMB 1.002 bn ($150 m) in the project, which it plans to develop in two phases, both with a capacity of 30,000 t/y each. The project is located in the Yaojiagang Chemical Park in Yichang City, which hosts a 200,000 t/y phosphoric acid plant and a 650,000 t/y ammonium phosphate facility.
