EuroChem targets Q3 2026 start up for Kingisepp expansion

Russia’s EuroChem plans to bring its new ammonia and urea plant in Russia’s Leningrad Region on stream in the third quarter of 2026, according to comments by General Director Igor Akhmerov reported in local media from the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). He said the project is “clearly on track” to meet the planned Q3 launch window, confirming earlier guidance that ammonia production at Kingisepp would start up in 2026.
Second phase adds 1.1m t ammonia, 1.4m t urea
Previous company disclosures indicate that the second phase at Kingisepp is designed for around 1.1 million tonnes per year of ammonia and 1.4 million tonnes per year of urea. This would sit alongside the 1 million tonnes per year of ammonia capacity commissioned in 2019 under phase one, making Kingisepp one of EuroChem’s key nitrogen hubs. The phase two launch has been delayed several times, but Akhmerov’s latest remarks suggest construction and commissioning are now aligned with the revised 2026 timetable.
Forum setting for project update
Akhmerov’s comments were made on the sidelines of SPIEF in early June, an annual economic forum in St. Petersburg that Russia uses to showcase investment and trade projects to foreign partners.
