A roadmap on phosphate and potash decarbonisation, developed by ERM and Systemiq in collaboration with IFA, was published on 16th July.
Sulphur degassing reduces hydrogen sulphide content in molten sulphur, which lowers toxic exposure risk, reduces the likelihood of explosive headspace conditions, and improves downstream handling.
Axens says that it has strengthened its collaboration with Egyptian Refining Company (ERC) via a long-term agreement aimed at maximising asset value and supporting ERC’s evolving needs in product supply, digital transformation, and refinery performance optimisation. Under the agreement, Axens will use its integrated portfolio of technologies, equipment, catalysts, and services to support ERC’s operational, economic, and sustainability objectives.
Arianne Phosphate has provided samples of its phosphate concentrate for processing at Travertine’s facility in Boulder, Colorado, US. Pilot scale testing was successfully performed, demonstrating proof of concept on the process and production of a high-quality purified phosphoric acid (PPA). The Travertine process captures and recycles over 95% of the sulphur used in the process of making PPA, providing a virtually closed loop system. The PPA produced using the process met specifications required for both LFP batteries as well as fertilizers. The companies have begun work to advance the PPA demonstration plant in Quebec’s Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, working with potential partners as well as end-users of the product.
Axens has signed an agreement with Air Liquide to acquire its methanol to olefins technology portfolio, including the Lurgi Methanol-to-Propylene ™ process. The company says that this addition expands its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) portfolio through Axens’ Jetanol ® process chain, offering its customers an end-to-end solution for SAF production through the methanol to jet pathway (MTJ).
AkzoNobel says that it is providing long-term corrosion protection and chemical and heat resistant coatings for the wind power and chemical processing facilities at the Songyuan Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park. Constructed by China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., it is the world’s largest integrated green hydrogen-ammonia-methanol project. Now on its second phase, the industrial park operates entirely on 100% renewable electricity and is currently focused on producing 45,000 t/a of green hydrogen and 200,000 t/a of green ammonia and methanol.
Sultech Global Innovation Corp’s patented micronisation technology is helping field-applied sulphur perform throughout the crop-year.
A new treatment process from thyssenkrupp Uhde converts phosphogypsum into a valuable feedstock for clinker production and can generate sulphuric acid.
Merichem Technologies has announced successful results from its ECOTREAT® field trial in the Permian Basin, demonstrating that its new hydrogen sulphide (H2S) removal process achieved sustained removal of > 99% of hydrogen sulphide gas without producing solid waste products. The new core technology uses an aqueous phase proprietary catalytic process that converts H2S into thiosulphate. […]
