Bifox secures Bayovar 9 phosphate rock project

Bifox Ltd has acquired an initial 16.667% stake in Fosfatos del Pacífico S.A. (Fospac) from Fossal S.A.A. for $10 million, with a call option to purchase the remaining 83.333% for $50 million. This gives it full exposure to the 550 million t Bayovar 9 phosphate rock project in northern Peru.

The NI 43 101 compliant resource comprises 209.3 million t measured, 183.6 million t indicated and 153.3 million t inferred phosphate rock, with an initial 2.5 million t/y open pit operation planned, scalable to 5 million t/y.

Bifox, an Australian/Chilean agribusiness focused on reactive phosphate rock production in Chile’s Atacama region, is also advancing the 60,000 t/y Selaqueos sedimentary phosphate plant at Bahía Inglesa near Caldera in northern Chile, the Chañaral igneous phosphate project in coastal northern Chile and earlier stage Bahia Salada tenements.

It is also pursuing a $60 million pre IPO capital raise to fund Bayovar 9 and expand phosphate rock supply to fertilizer, industrial and LFP battery markets in Latin America, the US and Asia.
