    Written by Natalie Noor-Drugan

CMB.TECH’s Mineral Europa has begun its maiden voyage to Australia. The Antwerp-based maritime group described the 210,000 dwt ship as the world’s first ammonia-powered dry bulk vessel.

The vessel’s departure marks the first of 21 ammonia-powered ships scheduled to join the company’s fleet by 2029. The programme comprises 18 dry bulk vessels, one container ship and two chemical tankers. Most are expected to be delivered within the next nine months.
