The Sulphur Institute (TSI) has announced the selection of Ron Olson as its agronomist. Olson has over 30 years of experience as an independent consulting agronomist as well as 15 years with Cargill and The Mosaic Company. His agronomic consulting company worked directly with farmers and agricultural retailers offering custom soil sampling and soil analysis, and crop management expertise. The company pioneered the implementation of using precision agriculture tools for taking soil samples on a 2.5 acre grid, converting that data to computer maps and linking that data to GPS/GIS technology to develop crop management programs to achieve maximum economic yields. With Cargill and Mosaic he served as Research and Development Manager and led the team that developed the MicroEssentials™ suite of products., which has grown to become the leading commercial sulphur enhanced fertilizer sold globally.

IFA has announced the appointment of its Senior Director of Agriculture, Patrick Heffer , as the organisation’s Interim Director General as of May 1st. A formal search process for the next Director General has already been launched. Previous IFA Director General Charlotte Hebebrand stepped down at the end of April to assume a new role as Executive Vice-President and Chief Sustainability Officer at Nutrien, and says that she looks forward to continuing engagement with IFA.

ICL Group’s executive vice president (EVP) Eli Amon has been appointed to lead its newly-created crop nutrition marketing business. He will also continue in his current role as EVP for ICL’s Innovative Ag Solutions division. Mr Amon has been with ICL for 29 years, serving in several executive sales, marketing and logistics roles.

Siroj Loikov has been appointed First Deputy CEO of PhosAgro. Loikov, who was previously Deputy CEO in charge of international projects and personnel policy, will coordinate the work of the company’s headquarters in Moscow, its management company in Cherepovets and the company’s production sites. He will also oversee the implementation of the PhosAgro’s priority development projects and will be responsible for the appointment, development and assessment of the work of the company’s top management.

CRU has announced the appointment of William Etchell as Chief Financial Officer, based in the company’s London headquarters. Etchell joins CRU from GUS Holdings, a global higher education provider. Previously, he was CFO at EPG, an education services provider, and prior to that he was Group Finance Director at BPP Professional Education Group. He has over 25 years’ experience working in finance across a variety of sectors, having qualified with Arthur Andersen in the 1990s. Since then he has worked in a number of organisations including British Airways, Time Warner and Interpublic Group, as well as running his own nursery school business.

Ben Pratt joined Mosaic’s senior leadership team at the start of April, having been appointed senior vice president (SVP) for government and public affairs. He was previously the company’s vice president for corporate public affairs, with responsibility for corporate communications, social responsibility and US federal government relations.

Charlotte Hebebrand, Director General of the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA), will end her term with the organisation on May 1st. IFA’s Senior Director of the Agriculture Service, Patrick Heffer, will serve as interim Director General as of 1 May, until a new permanent Director General can be proposed by IFA’s Board of Directors and approved by the membership at the organisation’s General Meeting, with the aim of having a new person in place by July.

Clariant has announced that Stephan Lynen will be appointed chief financial officer (CFO) of the company as of April 1st, 2020. Lynen is currently head of the Clariant’s Additives business unit, and has served with the company for more than 20 years in various international general management and business roles. He will succeed Patrick Jany who will be leaving to pursue a career opportunity outside of Clariant as CFO of A.P. Moller-Maersk, a global leader in shipping services.

The International Fertilizer Association (IFA) is helping to fully develop the career potential of younger employees through its Young Professionals initiative. This is providing a new generation of industry professionals with access to mentoring and career development advice. It also gives individuals a chance to network with their peers, as well as subsidising attendance and participation at international conferences.

Charlotte Hebebrand, director general of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), is to step down at the beginning of May, after more than seven years in the role.
